Gobble Gobble Deepagiving (Chapter 2)

Hi there, this year we Malaysian decided to have another Deepagiving gathering.
This year we made it even bigger than usual, instead of celebrating it ourselves we invited our American friends to have first hand experience on Malaysian food associate with Deepavalli.
This time, it involves more food, drinks and more laughter than usual.
We even laughed too loud while playing that we accidentally had a security officer knocking on the door giving us a warning. Ooops. Thankfully our host, Natalie and Tabitha Teo had it cover. Thank you!!

-From this combo picture, we can see Malaysian digging in whenever there are foods in front of them.

-2nd pictures is the food we cooked- Curry Chicken and Ayam Rendang was the attraction
(Since we have some Americans friend, we thought it might be wise to order Pizza, just in case. Little did we know it was us who have to eat the leftover Pizza as our American friends enjoyed our food!!!)

-3rd picture shows just how much guests were there that night. We even have to sit on the floor or stand by the kitchen!! haha

After dinner, we played a game call "Guess Who am I". It is just basically you have a person write a name and stick it on your forehead. You then have to guess the name that was written. There are 4 Justin Biebers, Taylor Swift, old legends like Elvis and Sinatra. We even got some hot actor and actresses like Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lopez, Emma Watson and Jennifer Lawrence among the picks. There was even a place for the sensational leader of the amazing girl group from South Korea : Taeyeon from Girls Generation!!!
(Kpop lovers must be wanting to join this game. Hehe)

Unfortunately this time, there isn't much picture taken except this one as everyone was busily chatting with each other. American friends wanting to know what we do and how we celebrate festivals in Malaysian and everyone was having fun guessing who are they during the game.

Stay tuned for another gathering- this time the actual Thanksgiving gathering with only us Malaysian and two Peruvians.

Malaysia Day celebration

Hi everyone, I'm the new blogger Marcus
As a Malaysian, we are patriotic people. Therefore, on September 14 (two days early), the KU Malaysian Association decided to have our own Malaysia Day celebration here in Lawrence, Kansas.
Chris, our new President decides his man cave would be the best location for this event. Yay, thanks to him.
As a typical Malaysian, we have a lot (and I mean a lot) of food.

There's our host here holding a blow torch - Chris Cheok

A great chef as well we could see here - Chris

Co-host Marveen helping out in preparing the food

It's not a Malaysia day celebration without curry chicken!!!
(I think the pot of curry was finished in about 30 minutes)

Malaysian Girls group having fun eating and eating...

playing kinect games

We even invited non-Malaysian friends to the party

And here you can see Malaysian taking some more food.

At the end of the day, we had a lot of fun
Special thanks to the few chefs who make such delicious foods.
We enjoy gatherings and celebrating special day. Hopefully, we would be able to have more gatherings and create more wonderful memories together.
It may just be us here at the University of Kansas but as Malaysians we enjoy the company of each other and we do these events to remind us that we are Malaysian.

=)
