This applies to both freshmen and transfer students.

1. Have your college prepare for you an official academic transcript

2. Get your high school transcripts as well ( i.e SPM cert, PMR cert).

3. Request for TOEFL to send your TOEFL scores to KU.
Refer to KU's English Requirement so that you know what score you should get in the test.

4. Have your lecturers to write recommendation letters for you to boost your application.

5. Refer to the admissions requirement to check the deadlines and requirements of your particular major of interest. (deadlines, minimum credits and GPAs)

6. Photostat a copy of your passport

7. Have your parents bank manager to issue you a bank statement to prove that you have enough funding to study in the US.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to have your college mail your materials together with your academic transcripts in a sealed envelope. Don't mail anything yourself, have your college do it for you!!

Have all your documents send to this address :
The University of Kansas

USA

This applies only to students applying for scholarship. (ONLY for FALL application)

If you have a GPA of 3.0 and above, do not hesitate to apply for KU, chances are you will get a scholarship!! Click here for more details.

Basically, KU offers two types of scholarship to international students. One is merit based scholarship which pays half of your tuition fees!!

The other is the IIE-Scholarship which pays all of your tuition fees, so you practically only have to pay for your living.

1. Basically, you will have to write a 500-word essay in English if you want to apply for the above scholarships.

The topics are (from the KU page):

Freshman essay questions
  1. The KU academic community consists of diverse perspectives and opinions — both in and out of the classroom. How do you intend to take advantage of this type of environment to broaden your educational and life experiences?
  2. If you could spend a year of your life engaged in service or research, without having concern for money, what would you do and why? How would this experience foster your educational goals and aspirations?
  3. Discuss your personal and academic goals and how you will achieve these goals at KU.

Transfer essay question
Briefly discuss your personal and academic goals and how you will achieve these goals at KU.
  • Letters of reference or recommendation (required for KU-IIE awards).
  • Additional scholarship forms will be distributed to students selected for consideration of the KU-IIE awards

2. Also, you will have to write a Co-curricular Summary. From your Co-curricular summary, select three activities that have been meaningful to you and explain why

3. After you have done this, put these with the rest of your documents and have it sent to KU no later than JAN 15. My advice, have it sent the latest by JAN 10, because it takes time for your package to come from MAS to the USA.

Good luck in your application!!
